Protecting People, Protecting Nature (P3N) is an essential initiative that responds to the context of systemic attacks in Mexico against environmental defenders. P3N provides comprehensive security strategies and tools designed to strengthen their resilience and protect their lives and work in a landscape of increasing violence.
P3N has woven an extensive network of allies made up of civil society organizations, research centers, communities, and defenders. This network of alliances has been fundamental in strengthening the ecosystem of environmental defense in Mexico.
The initiative focuses its efforts on all defenders of land, territory, and the environment in Mexico, in the fields of conservation and advocacy. P3N is committed to a preventive approach with limited capacity to respond to situations of imminent violence, which allows it to strengthen the ecosystem of environmental advocacy as a whole.
CEMDA has been producing its Report on the situation of individuals and communities defending environmental human rights in Mexico for over 10 years. The aim of this report is to highlight the situation of violence from a broad perspective and to raise awareness among different sectors of society about what is happening, so that they can continue their advocacy work and influence public discourse on the importance of this work and the challenges it faces.
